Position SummaryThe Drywall Estimator prepares and presents comprehensive bids and proposals to designated Project Managers and General Contractors. This role requires strong analytical skills, industry specific experience, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines with accuracy and confidence.
Key Responsibilities• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contract documents with accuracy.• Prepare detailed quantitative takeoffs using On Screen Takeoff software.• Transfer drywall takeoff files into Quick Bid to establish complete base bids including material and labor rates.• Solicit and review vendor pricing as needed.• Provide value engineering suggestions, alternates, and price breakouts when required.• Prepare quantitative takeoffs for acoustical ceilings.• Enter acoustical ceiling takeoffs into Excel templates to establish accurate base bids.• Draft detailed drywall and acoustical ceiling proposals including qualifications and exclusions using standardized templates.• Present completed bids to Project Managers by established due dates and participate in bid review discussions.• Conduct jobsite visits as necessary to verify existing field conditions.• Manage RFIs and addenda throughout the bidding process.• Establish and maintain strong client and vendor relationships.
QualificationsTo perform this role successfully, candidates must be able to execute each essential duty at a high level of accuracy and professionalism.• High school diploma or GED required.• Three to five years of related drywall estimating experience preferred. Ideal experience range is three to seven years.• MUST come directly from the drywall and acoustical ceiling industry.• Proficiency with On Screen Takeoff, Quick Bid, and Excel required.• Strong understanding of metal framing, drywall, and acoustical ceiling systems.• Proven ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.• Stable work history with demonstrated long term commitment in prior roles.• Collaborative, team oriented mindset with a professional and respectful communication style.
