PRT Staffing is partnering with a leading manufacturing organization in Clifton Springs, NY to hire an experienced CNC Programmer. This role is responsible for developing machining processes, generating CNC programs, designing fixturing, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across milling and turning operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented CNC professional who enjoys collaboration, problem-solving, and process optimization. General Responsibilities
Work from engineering drawings to plan machining processes
Specify tooling and fixturing requirements
Generate CNC machine programs
Support process improvements throughout the lifecycle of each program
Key Duties
Analyze blueprints to develop efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality machining processes
Improve existing processes and accommodate drawing revisions
Collaborate with Engineers and Designers to resolve manufacturing issues
Design and specify fixturing for mills, lathes, and machine automation
Select cutting tools and work with distributors, manufacturers, and in-house toolmakers
Generate NC programs using CAM software (Esprit preferred)
Create setup sheets, drawing markups, and process documentation
Support machinists and inspectors during implementation and improvement phases
Maintain CNC programs and documentation to ensure data integrity
Support routing development, cost estimating, capital purchases, and new product design
Participate in Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives
Assist with training and development of team members
Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work in fast-paced, demanding manufacturing environments
Experience programming complex Lathe processes with live tooling
Strong background in tooling selection and production machining
Experience selecting or designing work-holding and fixturing
Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (Esprit preferred; others considered)
Solid understanding of GD&T and metrology practices
Continuous improvement mindset in a Lean / Six Sigma environment
Willingness to work overtime as needed
Preferred / Desired Experience
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Project management or shop-level implementation experience
Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and DMAIC methodology
Process estimation and ROI analysis
Gear and shaft manufacturing
Robotics and production automation
