Scaffold Helper job descriptionJob Title: Scaffold HelperJob Summary: The Scaffold Helper/Builder assists in the assembly, disassembly, modification, and maintenance of scaffolding systems on construction and industrial sites. This role supports lead scaffold builders by handling materials, following safety procedures, and ensuring scaffolding is erected according to plans and safety regulations.Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the erection, dismantling, and modification of scaffolding structures
Carry, load, and unload scaffolding components such as pipes, planks, frames, braces, and fittings
Hand tools and materials to scaffold builders during installation
Follow OSHA and site-specific safety regulations at all times
Inspect scaffolding materials for damage or defects and report issues
Secure scaffolding components using appropriate tools and hardware
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Use basic hand and power tools (wrenches, hammers, drills, levels)
Work at various heights and assist with tying off scaffolding as required
Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED preferred
Previous construction or scaffolding experience a plus (not always required)
Ability to work at heights and in outdoor environments
Physically able to lift 50–75 lbs, climb, bend, and stand for long periods
Willingness to follow instructions and learn scaffolding systems
Strong awareness of jobsite safety practices
Reliable attendance and punctuality
Preferred Qualifications:
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
Basic understanding of scaffold components and load capacities
Experience in industrial, commercial, or refinery environments
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Work Environment:
Construction and industrial jobsites
Exposure to heights, weather conditions, dust, and noise
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required
